It is placed in the awesome Gulf of Castellamare, ideal destination for the lovers of the sea and of all the water sports like sailing, surfing, diving that you can practice in expanses of sea abounding in fish and full of submerged archeological treasures: Balestrate is also close to cultural and historic considerable sites: Segesta, Scopello, Erice, Trapani and its ancient salt farms, Selinunte and Agrigento with their temples and, of course, Palermo with its monuments, its typical noises of the street markets, the strong smell of the “panellari” and of the “stigghiolari” (Sicilian food), the easy touristic and gastronomic tours around the valley of “Bianco D’Alcamo” famous for the white wine which you can drink while eating the fish you caught and grilled in your barbecue area.

Few km away from Palermo, you can find the beach of Mondello, the habitual destination of the tourist coming from all around the world and the most important site for the world competition of windsurf called Windsurf World Festival where the best surfers of the world take part.
